Position Summary

The Electrical Engineer Level 1 is responsible for researching, developing, designing, and testing electrical components, equipment, and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop control systems, instruments, and electrical systems for marine, defense, oil & gas, and industrial applications.
  • Produce and evaluate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout designs.
  • Integrate electrical systems with hydraulic controls, hydraulic power units, and onboard ship systems. Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure effective system integration.
  • Oversee activities to guarantee that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing meet functional specifications and client expectations.
  • Manage and coordinate the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to boost system performance, reliability, and efficiency. Stay informed about advancements in electrical engineering and integrate new technologies and best practices.
  • Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software to execute engineering tasks.
  • Provide ongoing engineering support to operations, technical support, application development, and sales and marketing for design-related issues with existing products.
  • Additional responsibilities include schematic capture, electrical component selection, layout supervision, coordinating product regulatory certification, and product release documentation.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
  • Participate in the organization's continuous improvement program to comply with ISO 9001 and understand the implications of non-compliance with the quality management system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation and Training
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution or a closely related field.
Experience
  • A minimum of four years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in a related field.
  • Strong understanding of marine electrical systems, standards, and regulations is advantageous.
  • Experience in an ISO 9001 environment is a plus.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in electrical design and troubleshooting.
  • Strong familiarity with I/O (PCI) Bus structures and their dependencies.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Word for data analysis and reporting.
  • Genuine interest in analog circuit design and analysis, with a preference for hands-on electronic circuit work.
  • Knowledge of fundamental switching regulator and converter topologies, including flybacks, buck, and boost.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and navigate situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas, gain support, and inspire action.
  • Ability to organize and delegate tasks to utilize the skills and knowledge of team members effectively.
  • Ability to maintain positive interactions with colleagues and management.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
