The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Part-time Ultrasound Technologist 2.


The University of Miami Health System is expanding its state-of-the-art facility, which serves as a hub for our extensive regional network of outpatient services.

This expansion will enhance our ability to deliver world-class academic medicine, advanced technology, and innovative treatment options to the growing community.

UHealth will provide services through various specialized centers, including cancer treatment, eye care, and urology, along with other specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, and dermatology.

The expansion will offer residents specialized medical services right in their community.

Upon completion, UHealth will feature multiple operating rooms, endoscopy procedure rooms, cancer treatment bays, and numerous multidisciplinary exam rooms, alongside essential ancillary services.


The Ultrasound Technologist - Level II is tasked with executing complex procedures in Ultrasound, utilizing radiographic equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.

Independent judgment, creativity, and initiative are crucial, along with responsibility for specific areas, procedures, and equipment. This role includes supervising daily operations in the absence of the Chief Technologist or Radiology Manager.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Manage scheduling and patient flow for interdepartmental procedures.

Supervise and perform diagnostic imaging studies under the guidance of a radiologist. Assist in the training and education of new physicians.

Collaborate with radiologists and PhD professionals to develop new protocols and imaging techniques unique to the facility.

Engage in research initiatives and contribute to the development of research protocols.

Act as a team leader regularly.

Monitor the charging of Ultrasound procedures and supplies daily to ensure accuracy.

Demonstrate Ultrasound equipment during site visits for physicians and administrators.

Conduct in-service training sessions in the section.


Review and assess the order for an Ultrasound scan to understand the requested procedures, patient condition, and any special notes.

Ensure that orders align with the recommended exam type.

Notify the supervisor of any discrepancies and contact the physician's office for corrections if necessary.


Identify patient service requirements by establishing rapport with patients and others who can provide insight into service needs.

Verify the patient's identity by checking their name and date of birth on electronic medical records and wristbands.

Always obtain necessary consents and provide education.


Perform specialized tasks associated with operating Ultrasound scanners and related equipment, adhering to prescribed safety procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist, using age-appropriate standards of practice.

Ability to integrate diagnostic results, patient history, and medical records, adapting exams as necessary.

Adhere to Ultrasound protocols to maintain high-quality standards.

Consistently demonstrate proficiency in performing Ultrasound scans as required.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography and/or Vascular program.

ARDMS registered. ARDMS-Abdominal & Vascular certification required. CPR and BLS certification required.

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office).
