The University of Miami is in search of a dedicated Ultrasound Technologist Level II to join our team in Doral, Florida.
Position OverviewThis role involves executing intricate ultrasound procedures utilizing advanced radiographic equipment to capture the highest quality diagnostic images. The Ultrasound Technologist Level II will operate with a significant degree of independence, demonstrating sound judgment and initiative while overseeing designated areas, procedures, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and coordinate scheduling and patient flow for interdepartmental procedures.
- Supervise and conduct diagnostic imaging studies under the guidance of a radiologist.
- Assist in the training and education of new medical staff.
- Collaborate with radiologists and PhD professionals to develop innovative protocols and ultrasound imaging techniques.
- Engage in research initiatives and contribute to the development of research protocols.
- Act as a team leader regularly, ensuring effective operation within the department.
- Monitor and verify the accuracy of ultrasound procedure charges and supplies.
- Provide demonstrations of ultrasound equipment for visiting professionals.
- Conduct in-service training sessions within the department.
- Review and confirm ultrasound orders, ensuring appropriateness and accuracy.
- Establish rapport with patients to identify service requirements effectively.
- Verify patient identification through electronic medical records and wristbands.
- Ensure all necessary consents and educational materials are obtained.
- Perform specialized tasks associated with ultrasound equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Integrate diagnostic information and adapt exams as necessary, maintaining high standards of practice.
- Exhibit proficiency in conducting ultrasound scans as per physician orders.
- Assist in positioning patients for optimal imaging results.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, ensuring all necessary supplies are stocked.
- Provide on-call coverage as required.
- Report any unusual findings promptly to the appropriate personnel.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography and/or Vascular program.
Certification: ARDMS registered with Abdominal & Vascular certification required; CPR and BLS certification necessary.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years in a relevant field.
Skills: Attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks under pressure, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
