Job Description:

The Railroad Commission of Texas, a leader in the regulation of the oil and gas sector, is seeking a dedicated Field Inspector to conduct technical inspections within oilfield operations. This role is situated in the Midland District Office, specifically within the Field Operations Section of the Oil and Gas Division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of drilling operations to ensure compliance with established regulations.
  • Oversee well plugging processes and monitor surface casing cementing to safeguard the quality of the State's water resources.
  • Document and analyze mechanical integrity tests related to injection and disposal wells to verify adherence to permit guidelines.
  • Inspect recycling and waste management facilities to ensure they meet regulatory standards.
  • Perform general lease inspections to assess overall compliance with state regulations.
  • Execute fluid level tests on wells to protect the State's water quality.
  • Gauge storage at lease batteries to determine quantities of oil, condensate, and produced water.
  • Utilize various testing equipment for fluid analysis.
  • Investigate complaints related to wells, document findings, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Collect and analyze geological and engineering data.
  • Respond to emergency situations involving hazardous materials and report findings to management.
  • Prepare and submit reports using standard software applications.
  • Communicate technical information effectively to industry personnel and the public.
  • Conduct inspections in various weather conditions, which may require walking significant distances.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to maintain workflow efficiency.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Willingness to reside in the designated counties.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in engineering or the oil and gas sector.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, or a related scientific field.
  • Associate's degree or technical certification from an accredited institution.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of geological principles and techniques.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of oilfield tools and technical equipment.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office and database applications.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.

Work Hours: Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, with potential for alternate schedules and telework based on operational needs.
