Key Responsibilities

As a vital member of our team, you will contribute to the transformation of the electric pick-up truck and rugged SUV market by:
  • Refining and coordinating control algorithms for advanced battery management systems (BMS) to monitor essential parameters such as cell voltage, temperature, and state of charge (SOC) for optimal energy efficiency and safety.
  • Calibrating BMS functionalities to ensure peak performance for both customers and vehicles.
  • Ensuring compliance of battery control systems with industry standards and regulatory requirements concerning safety, performance, and environmental impact.
  • Employing modeling and simulation tools to validate control system designs and forecast performance across diverse operating conditions.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to seamlessly integrate battery control systems into the overall vehicle framework.
  • Conducting comprehensive testing, validation, and optimization of control algorithms.
  • Participating in calibration development initiatives.
Location & Travel Requirements

This role necessitates regular attendance at in-person meetings and events. The position will be based at Scout Motors' facility. Candidates should be prepared for occasional travel to represent the company at various events.

Qualifications

Additional qualifications include:
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in battery control system development, ideally within the automotive or energy storage sectors.
  • Expertise in control theory, algorithm development, and simulation methodologies.
  • Experience with calibration tools and techniques.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as C, C++, or Python.
  • Familiarity with battery management systems (BMS) and related hardware.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, LIN) and hardware interfaces.
  • Understanding of safety standards and regulations relevant to battery technology.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision to meet project deliverables.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with colleagues and suppliers globally.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and produce engineering drawings and specifications.
