Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The role contributes to organizational goals by diagnosing system performance issues and strategizing capital initiatives to address these challenges while offering technical guidance across the company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Employs a variety of power system analysis tools to evaluate anticipated transmission system performance, focusing on transient and dynamic stability as well as voltage stability.
  • Conducts stability assessments for new generator interconnection applications to pinpoint and alleviate performance issues.
  • Assesses the stability of both existing systems and planned capital expansion initiatives.
  • Executes EMT/switching transient evaluations.
  • Reviews Protection System Outage Requests for potential impacts on stability.
  • Offers technical assistance to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitates the development of models to support system evaluations.
  • Participates in meetings and training sessions to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
  • Produces written reports detailing various aspects of the transmission system's status and performance.
  • Creates presentations and communicates study findings to both internal and external audiences.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience and/or education.
  • Experience Requirements:
    • No prior work experience necessary for Associate Engineer level.
    • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience for Intermediate Engineer level.
    • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience for Senior Engineer level.
  • Capability to learn and utilize various power system analysis software.
  • Engineer candidates should be able to swiftly acquire job-specific skills and work independently with regular guidance while keeping others informed of activities and potential issues.
  • Senior Engineer candidates must possess advanced engineering capabilities and work with minimal supervision under high-level direction while appropriately communicating activities and potential issues.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and documentation skills are essential.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with superiors and individuals both inside and outside the organization are required.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in multitasking and time management.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Some travel may be necessary.
