Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Lead I&C Engineer, you will be responsible for producing thorough I&C design packages for power plants. Your duties will include:
  • Collaborating with the Project Manager and Project Engineer to outline and oversee project scope.
  • Supervising a team of engineers and designers, ensuring effective management of engineering and project budgets.
  • Scheduling work for team members to align with project timelines.
  • Assisting in the selection of instruments for P&ID development.
  • Conducting I&C engineering calculations in accordance with established procedures and formats.
  • Engaging in control system engineering tasks, including HMI graphics design and control logic development.
  • Utilizing instrumentation design software to catalog data and create instrument data sheets.
  • Drafting project-specific I&C equipment specifications and managing bid evaluations.
  • Reviewing vendor drawings for compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinating with major I&C vendors and serving as the primary liaison.
  • Reviewing the work of engineering and design team members.
  • Providing mentorship and training to Engineers, Designers, and Drafters.
  • Assisting in cost estimation for new projects.
  • Offering on-site instrumentation and controls support during construction and startup phases.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in municipal water/wastewater treatment or water infrastructure engineering.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineering License.
  • Experience with control systems, including SCADA and DCS, is preferred.
  • General understanding of cybersecurity principles.
  • Familiarity with telecommunication system design is advantageous.
  • Experience in control valve and flow meter sizing and specification.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes in the I&C field (NEC, ASME, NFPA, ISA, etc.).
  • Proficiency in I&C design software.
  • Understanding of project flow and construction methodologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with SmartPlant Instrumentation, Revit, and AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Proactive in seeking information and support to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility in managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Commitment to building professional relationships with colleagues and clients.
