As a Senior Engineer 1, you will act as a subject matter expert in various domains including structures, pavements, maintenance, materials, and geotechnical engineering.
Key Responsibilities:You will employ a range of analytical, scientific, and engineering techniques to carry out research, development, testing, and evaluation (RDT&E) as well as technical projects, which include:
- Conducting applied bench-level research
- Developing advanced technologies
- Designing, constructing, and evaluating prototype/pilot scale systems in relevant operational environments
- Testing and evaluating materials, technologies, and processes for Air Force operations
- Enhancing operations & maintenance (O&M) capabilities through the integration of alternative pavements, materials, technologies, processes, and procedures
To successfully execute these projects, you will need technical expertise in areas such as experimental and test design, laboratory and field analysis, quality control, scale-up and prototype design and operation, system/process evaluation, technology transition, technical writing, and the use and maintenance of scientific and engineering equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
Minimum Qualifications:Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with 8-10 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6-8 years of experience. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
Experience in an engineering research setting with a focus on pavement materials, testing, and construction is essential.
Proficiency in pavement analysis and design, testing, material QC/QA, mix design, specifications, pavement supporting materials (geotechnical), and construction processes is required, whether acquired through academic coursework or practical experience.
Experience in preparing formal reports and presentations is also necessary.Strong analytical and computational skills are a must, along with excellent interpretation, writing, communication, and presentation abilities.
