The Employment Support Coordinator delivers direct assistance and services to individuals in securing and sustaining employment aligned with their career aspirations.

This role involves engaging with clients in various settings, including workplaces and community partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities:
The following outlines the primary functions of this position. It is not an exhaustive list of all tasks that may be assigned.
Conduct outreach initiatives to connect clients with program services.

Build and nurture trusting, collaborative relationships aimed at achieving competitive employment in community job environments alongside non-disabled peers.

Work collaboratively with clients to create personalized job support strategies. Consult with the mental health team; modify plans based on client feedback and requirements. Execute job development and search efforts tailored to individual client interests. With client consent, provide guidance and support to family members. Discuss with clients their preferences regarding the disclosure of mental health status to potential employers.

Ensure comprehensive support is available for clients commencing new employment; meet with clients both prior to and following job starts; clarify job expectations with clients.

Conduct ongoing evaluations of client vocational capabilities using historical data and work experiences. Offer individualized follow-up support to help clients retain employment. Provide timely and suitable interventions as necessary. Educate and assist employers as directed by clients, which may involve assessing and negotiating job accommodations.
Maintain regular communication with various local employers. Discuss current workforce needs; outline the supports provided by the program; highlight client strengths relevant to the job.

Assist clients in understanding their benefits (e.g., SSI, Medicaid, etc.) and the potential impact of regular employment; refer clients to benefits counseling as needed.

Aid clients in reporting their earnings, as required.
Engage in a variety of outreach activities when established clients appear to disengage from program services. Transport clients in agency vehicles as necessary throughout the service area.
Exhibit regular and dependable attendance; maintain professional communication; uphold confidentiality.

Participate in routine meetings with the mental health treatment team; communicate with team members between meetings to coordinate and integrate vocational services into mental health care.

Collaborate with the Community Support Services Team and serve as a liaison to Vocational Rehabilitation.

Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the criteria for a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA).

Any combination of experience and education equivalent to the following is acceptable:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant human services field and two (2) years of experience in employment readiness, job development, and retention; OR
High school diploma or GED and five (5) years of equivalent training and work experience as noted above.

Experience must include responsible case management and/or training work with individuals who have severe and persistent mental illness or developmental disabilities.

Experience in providing community support services, rehabilitative services, and/or working in the vocational rehabilitation sector is preferred.
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish/English is a plus.

Must possess a valid Oregon or Washington Driver's license and be insurable for client service purposes and for travel between business offices and to attend required meetings and/or training.

Must successfully pass all criminal history check requirements as mandated by state regulations.
