Role Summary:

We are in search of an innovative and strategic Chief Executive Officer to lead our organization. This individual will work in close collaboration with the Board of Directors, Music Director, artistic personnel, musicians, volunteers, and community partners to fulfill the orchestra's mission, ensuring the delivery of outstanding live symphonic performances and music education.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Development: Formulate and execute strategic initiatives that align with the orchestra's mission and long-term objectives.
  2. Financial Oversight: Manage the organization’s financial operations, including budgeting, fundraising, and grant writing to maintain fiscal health.
  3. Fundraising Leadership: Spearhead fundraising campaigns, cultivate donor relationships, and explore new revenue opportunities to support the orchestra's initiatives.
  4. Labor Relations: Work with legal advisors to negotiate collective bargaining agreements, ensuring fair practices for musicians.
  5. Community Relations: Build and maintain strong partnerships with community stakeholders to enhance the orchestra's visibility and impact.
  6. Program Innovation: Collaborate with the Artistic Director to design engaging concert programs and educational activities that resonate with diverse audiences.
  7. Board Support: Assist the Board of Directors in governance, strategic planning, and organizational development.
  8. Marketing Strategy: Lead marketing and public relations efforts to increase awareness and attract new audiences.
  9. Team Leadership: Guide and mentor a dedicated team of administrative staff and volunteers, ensuring effective daily operations.
  10. Advocacy: Act as a passionate representative for the orchestra, promoting the importance of music education and cultural enrichment.
  11. Concert Management: Oversee all aspects of concert production, including venue contracts and event logistics.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in financial management, including budgeting and fundraising.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a history of fostering organizational growth.
  • Collaborative leadership style that empowers team members.
  • Strong passion for classical music and commitment to community arts access.
  • Prior experience in nonprofit leadership.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Dynamic professional with a history of building donor relationships.
  • Proficient in technology, including Microsoft Office and social media platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business, nonprofit management, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with the Northeastern Pennsylvania region.
  • Experience in digital marketing and online fundraising.
  • Previous leadership roles in the performing arts sector.
