We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as our Director of Planning and Zoning. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as a deep understanding of planning and zoning principles and practices.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Planning and Zoning Department in the development and implementation of comprehensive plans and policies that promote sustainable growth and development in Luzerne County.
- Oversee the administration of zoning ordinances and land use regulations, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Supervise a team of professional planners and zoning staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of projects and initiatives.
- Develop and manage budgets, grants, and other resources to support departmental operations and initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with local government officials, community leaders, and other stakeholders to promote collaboration and cooperation on planning and zoning issues.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging trends and best practices in planning and zoning, applying this knowledge to inform departmental decisions and initiatives.
- Master's degree in Planning, Architecture, Public Policy, Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Administration, Business, or closely related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in planning and zoning, with a strong background in leadership and management.
- Proven track record of success in developing and implementing comprehensive plans and policies, as well as administering zoning ordinances and land use regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
