Role Summary:

Edenbridge Health is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant dedicated to enhancing the experience of our clinic participants. The role encompasses various responsibilities, including preparing examination rooms, recording vital signs and weights, gathering brief medical histories, and providing comprehensive support for participant care. The Medical Assistant will work under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct administrative tasks such as welcoming patients, managing both paper and electronic health records, handling phone communications including notifying patients of test outcomes, coordinating care, completing necessary forms, scheduling appointments, and assisting with billing and compliance matters.
  • Engage in clinical functions that address all patient needs to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
  • Collaborate proactively with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and RNs as needed, contributing to a team-oriented approach that spans multiple departments and roles, while fostering a positive patient experience.
  • Receive patients promptly, obtaining routine vital signs and screenings in accordance with established protocols for their visit.
  • Execute back-office tasks, laboratory work, and testing procedures in line with professional training and clinic policies, including routine and chronic care examinations.
  • Under the guidance of a Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or RN, perform minor procedures such as ear lavage, nebulizer treatments, and basic laboratory functions, while facilitating the transfer of specimens to external laboratories and conducting age-specific screening tests.
  • Assume responsibility for individual duties within the assigned team, including tracking referrals, maintaining clean and stocked examination rooms, and assisting with the upkeep and inventory of medical equipment and supplies.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant in Washington, DC.
  • Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT I) is advantageous.
  • Prior experience as a Medical Assistant, as outlined above.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with elderly or frail populations.
  • Experience in long-term care settings or community-based geriatric programs is preferred.
  • Must be free from communicable diseases and possess up-to-date vaccinations, including against Covid-19.
