Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Library Associate II to join our team at the Cecil County Public Library. As a key member of our Children's Services team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional information, reader, and technology services to children, families, and caregivers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide information services, including readers advisory, homework help, reference, and technology assistance to children, families, and caregivers in person, via phone, email, online, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with system-wide Children's Services team and external presenters to plan and implement library programs that are responsive to the needs of children, families, and caregivers in the Perryville community.
  • Develop and implement outreach and collaborative programming to local school system and community-based organizations.
  • Actively market library services and programs to children and their parents/caregivers. Merchandise collections. Recommend and review books and other library materials through various media outlets, including the CCPL website.
  • Work with Branch Manager to develop and implement department or branch goals within overall system goals.
  • Serve as liaison to the local elementary schools and community organizations serving children and their parents/caregivers.
  • Monitor and maintain the local juvenile collection and make recommendations for materials to be purchased.
  • Utilize the library's circulation database to search for and place holds on materials requested by patrons.
  • Represent branch library on system-wide children's services team.
  • May serve on system-wide committees.
  • Monitor and maintain library computers and software, troubleshoot and call for assistance as needed.
  • Maintain facility and report problems to appropriate staff.
  • Maintain accurate service statistics.
  • Shelve library materials of all types.
  • Perform ongoing assignments of moderate to high difficulty.
  • May serve as Librarian in Charge (LIC).
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Perform job in keeping with the adopted policies, procedures, and values of the Cecil County Public Library.
