SENIOR ELECTRICAL TEST ENGINEER

Element Science, Inc. is a pioneering organization in the medical device and digital health sector, dedicated to creating innovative solutions that merge clinical-grade wearables, advanced machine learning algorithms, and life-saving therapies. Our mission is to tackle the leading causes of mortality and hospitalization among patients suffering from heart disease, particularly during their transition from hospital to home care. Our flagship product, a wearable patch defibrillator, aims to assist over 500,000 patients in the United States who are at an increased temporary risk of experiencing life-threatening heart rhythms.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Senior Electrical Test Engineer is responsible for spearheading the development of testing solutions for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), subassemblies, and final products. This role also involves supporting the deployment and upkeep of these testing solutions within the production environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Identify user requirements and design specifications for testing solutions in collaboration with stakeholders from Manufacturing, R&D, and Quality Assurance.
  2. Supervise the creation of testing solutions, which includes presenting design concepts, prototyping, conducting design reviews, and verifying design specifications for cross-functional teams.
  3. Oversee external contractors and suppliers engaged in testing solution services.
  4. Prepare documentation for testing solutions in compliance with the quality management system.
  5. Assist in the implementation and ongoing maintenance of testing solutions in the production process.
  6. Engage in design reviews focused on testability to enhance the testing of PCBAs, subassemblies, and final products.
  7. Provide guidance and mentorship to team members across various functions.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  2. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical test engineering, with a proven history of leading the development of testing solutions from concept through to production deployment.
  3. Expertise in defining user requirements and design specifications to drive project success. Strong project management skills are essential.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical information clearly.
  5. Hands-on experience with hardware schematic and layout analysis from system level to component level.
  6. Proficient in managing contractors and suppliers.
  7. Familiarity with testing methodologies, including Functional Testing, In-Circuit Testing (ICT), Flying Probe Testing, and Burn-In Testing.
  8. Experience with automation software such as Python, LabVIEW, or TestStand is advantageous.
  9. Knowledge of risk management tools, including Hazard Analysis, DFMEA, and PFMEA, is a plus.
  10. Soldering and assembly skills are beneficial.

  10. Salary for this exempt-level position will be determined based on experience and qualifications within an established pay range.
  11. Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000
