About the Job

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Outpatient Services Coordinator to join our team at Kootenai Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for coordinating activities related to scheduling patients and procedures, referrals, prior authorizations, and insurance paperwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate patient scheduling and procedures, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of care.
  • Manage referrals, prior authorizations, and insurance paperwork, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Enter orders, procedures, labs, and multiple tests related to patient care, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain patient demographics and insurance information in scheduling systems, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date records.
  • Communicate basic financial policies to patients, collect copays, deductibles, and self-pay payments, and process charges.
  • Obtain referrals and pre-authorizations as required, processing charges and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Generate reports, handle multiple projects, and prepare and monitor invoices and expense reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with leadership expectations.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two years' experience as a Health Unit Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, Scheduler, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience required.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, confidentiality, HIPAA, and electronic health record systems preferred.
