Position Overview:
The Outpatient Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing the logistics of patient scheduling, referrals, prior authorizations, and insurance documentation while maintaining a strong focus on customer service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

- Adheres to all confidentiality and HIPAA regulations set forth by Kootenai Health.
- Acts as the primary communication hub for the clinic, providing essential information regarding patient care, location, and activities.
- Responsible for entering orders, procedures, and lab tests related to outpatient care.
- Ensures that patient demographic and insurance details are accurately recorded in scheduling systems.
- Communicates financial policies related to insurance, including the collection of copays and deductibles.
- Obtains necessary referrals and pre-authorizations, processing charges as required.
- Generates reports, manages multiple projects, and prepares invoices and expense reports as directed by leadership.
- Familiar with standard practices and concepts in the healthcare field, relying on experience and judgment to achieve objectives.
- Regular and predictable attendance is a fundamental requirement.
- Competent in addressing age-specific needs of patients within the assigned unit.


Minimum Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- A minimum of two years' experience in roles such as Health Unit Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, or Scheduler, or a combination of relevant education and experience is required.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, confidentiality standards, HIPAA regulations, and electronic health record systems is preferred.


Working Conditions:

- Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 10 lbs.
- Capability to reach above or below shoulder height.
- Must be able to maintain a seated position for extended periods.
- Typical office equipment will be utilized, involving repetitive movements.
