Overview

As an Army Cryptologic Linguist, you'll play a vital role in national security by analyzing and interpreting foreign language communications. This demanding position requires exceptional linguistic skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to operate under pressure.

Your primary responsibility will be to identify and categorize foreign communication signals from designated regions. You'll delve into these transmissions, extracting critical information to support intelligence reporting and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze foreign communications for actionable intelligence.
  • Categorize signals based on activity type and purpose.
  • Provide translation expertise to analysts and decision-makers.
  • Monitor changes in transmission modes and alert relevant authorities.
  • Contribute to the accurate and timely dissemination of intelligence reports.

Training & Qualifications:

You'll undergo rigorous training at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC), mastering a foreign language essential to national security. This intensive program, lasting between six and eighteen months, will equip you with the linguistic proficiency and analytical skills necessary for success.
