Job Overview

Position Summary:

Under the guidance of the Director of Economic Development, the individual will oversee and execute communication strategies to effectively share relevant and timely information about local businesses. This role also supports the Economic Development department by assisting in event organization and promotional initiatives for the Town. The position reports directly to the Director of Economic Development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regularly update the town's website to ensure that accurate and current information is readily available.
  • Manage the Town's social media platforms by creating engaging content, disseminating important messages, and monitoring audience interactions.
  • Develop and maintain a schedule for information displays at community locations, ensuring timely updates.
  • Contribute to the creation of marketing and advertising campaigns.
  • Design both digital and print marketing materials as required.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and promotion of community events.
  • Prepare event brochures and keep the event calendar up to date.
  • Participate in meetings as necessary and prepare accordingly.
  • Act as Co-chair for the Arts and Entertainment District Committee.
  • Oversee Building and Park Rentals by managing the rental schedule and coordinating reservations.
  • Collect and organize data for grant reporting purposes.
  • Maintain databases for volunteers, artists, vendors, and entertainment.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
  • Conduct research as directed when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, or a related discipline, or a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in event planning, web management, or social media marketing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with publishing software.
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend work based on event schedules.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
  • Passing a pre-employment drug screening.

  • Health benefits commence on the first day of the month.
  • During the first year of employment, employees accrue vacation leave at a rate of 3.33 hours per month, personal leave at 12 hours per quarter, and sick leave at 8 hours per month.
  • Employees are entitled to 15 paid holidays annually, subject to the Town's standard benefits policies.
  • The Town reserves the right to modify or discontinue any benefits at its discretion.
