Job Overview

Position Summary:

Under the guidance of the Director of Economic Development, the selected candidate will oversee and execute communication strategies to effectively share relevant and timely information regarding local business initiatives. This role also encompasses support for the Economic Development department through event management and promotional activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regularly update the municipal website to ensure the dissemination of accurate and current information.
  • Manage the municipality's social media platforms by crafting and sharing engaging content, monitoring interactions, and responding to inquiries.
  • Develop and maintain a schedule for information displays at various community locations, ensuring timely updates.
  • Assist in creating and implementing marketing and advertising strategies.
  • Design both digital and print promotional materials as required.
  • Participate in the planning, coordination, execution, and promotion of community events.
  • Prepare event brochures and maintain an updated events calendar.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings as necessary.
  • Act as Co-chair for the Arts and Entertainment District Committee.
  • Oversee and coordinate facility rentals, including managing schedules and reservations.
  • Collect and organize data for grant reporting purposes.
  • Maintain databases for volunteers, artists, vendors, and entertainment resources.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
  • Conduct research as directed.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, or a related discipline, or a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in event coordination, web management, or social media marketing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with publishing software.
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend work based on event schedules.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screening prior to employment.

  • Accrual of vacation leave at a rate of 3.33 hours per month during the first year of employment, with personal leave accrued quarterly and sick leave at 8 hours per month.
  • Eligibility for 15 paid holidays annually, subject to the Town's standard benefits procedures.
  • The Town reserves the right to modify or discontinue benefits at any time.
