Overview of Responsibilities:

The Quality Technician I plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of Chart Industries' products and processes. This position involves:

  • Documenting essential quality metrics
  • Conducting preliminary data analysis and preparing reports to confirm compliance with established standards
  • Recommending adjustments to current standards or proposing new methodologies
  • Working under close supervision
  • Addressing basic challenges and escalating more complex issues to senior personnel
  • Demonstrating foundational knowledge of quality assurance principles
  • Utilizing basic measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers in daily operations
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned

Key Quality Control Tasks:

  • Conducting audits of products, processes, and the Quality Management System
  • Managing the processing of rejected materials from production
  • Inspecting products to ensure adherence to quality standards
  • Initiating reports for nonconformance
  • Updating documentation for the Quality Management System
  • Performing inspections on incoming parts
  • Collecting gas samples for product analysis

Mechanical Testing Responsibilities:

  • Preparing samples for mechanical evaluations
  • Executing tensile strength and impact assessments
  • Conducting tests on base metals and performing bend tests
  • Assisting in welder qualifications through necessary testing

Daily Activities:

The Quality Technician I will engage in various tasks that support the overall quality assurance process.

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED is required

Physical Work Environment:

  • Physical Demands: The role requires frequent standing, walking, and sitting. Regular use of hands for handling objects and tools is necessary, along with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Vision capabilities include close vision and color differentiation.

Professional Experience Requirements:

Required:

  • For internal candidates: 2 years of experience with Chart Industries
  • At least 1 year of experience as a quality technician or a minimum of 2 years in a manufacturing role
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Attention to detail is critical
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proven capability to identify and resolve minor quality issues
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as necessary

Preferred Qualifications:

  • General understanding of ISO standards
  • Familiarity with Chart Industries products
  • Experience in welding is advantageous
