Title: Sr. Renewables Project Developer

Duration: 12+ Months (CTH)

Location: Hybrid On-Site

Job Overview

The role entails overseeing the development and execution of large-scale renewable energy projects, specifically those with a capacity of 1 megawatt (MW) or more. This position is responsible for managing the project lifecycle from land acquisition to the commencement of construction. Key responsibilities include coordinating project management tasks such as defining the scope, scheduling, cost estimation, engineering, and construction specifications. The successful candidate will drive project completion by identifying viable projects and guiding them through the development stages, which encompass interconnection applications, engineering design, permitting, and the transition to construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct renewable energy projects (wind and/or solar) through various phases of development.
  • Coordinate a team of specialists to deliver project timelines, budget estimates, and engineering specifications.
  • Manage project budgets and ensure efficient procurement of labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Communicate project progress to stakeholders and engage them in decision-making processes.
  • Identify and negotiate potential project development opportunities, including leases and easements.
  • Support the development team in creating marketing materials and proposals for potential projects and acquisitions.
  • Assess project risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, including proper documentation.
  • Analyze market trends and opportunities in the renewable energy sector across diverse regions.
  • Participate in industry groups addressing renewable energy policy changes and initiatives.
  • Engage with the community to foster support for project outcomes through meetings and discussions.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of project management experience, including 2 years in renewable energy or community engagement; OR
  • Associate degree with 7 years of project management experience, including 2 years in renewable energy or community engagement; OR
  • High school diploma or GED with 9 years of project management experience, including 2 years in renewable energy or community engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in engineering, construction management, or business administration.
  • Background in the renewable energy sector.
  • Familiarity with local project siting and permitting processes.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Proficiency in project management software.
  • Ability to effectively manage the strategic development of wind and/or solar projects.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Competence in coordinating deadlines and logistics to ensure timely project execution.
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor under pressure while balancing various demands.
