Key Responsibilities of a Senior Civil Engineering Project Manager

In this role, you will:

  • Craft and formulate work plans and proposals for engineering services associated with site/civil consultation and design, which includes defining the scope of field investigations and design initiatives, estimating costs, and developing project timelines.
  • Prepare, present, and discuss design and bidding documents with clients.
  • Oversee project timelines and financials for multiple assignments.
  • Review and prepare engineering analyses, reports, calculations, contract documents, designs, and specifications for site/civil projects.
  • Plan, organize, supervise, and conduct field evaluations and inspections as required.
  • Evaluate the feasibility and integrity of proposed site/civil features.
  • Develop design specifics and specify suitable construction materials.
  • Coordinate construction quality assurance services, conduct regular site visits, and review daily field reports produced by others.
  • Facilitate pre-proposal, pre-construction, and construction progress meetings, and document the minutes of these meetings.
  • Create and deliver project-specific or technical presentations to clients, technical organizations, and internal teams.
  • Assist Project Managers in overseeing projects that require financial, technical, and administrative leadership, while also identifying growth opportunities with both new and existing clients.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Directors to address client inquiries and communicate changes to project scope, schedule, and budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution; a Master's degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Professional Registration is essential.
  • A minimum of 7 years of proven experience in site development, including site layout, grading, utility design, pavement design, permitting, budgeting, and interactions with jurisdictional agencies.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required; experience with Infrastructure Suite or MicroStation is advantageous.
  • Preferred experience with Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling software, including proficient use of HEC-HMS, SWMM, Storm and Sanitary Analysis, or similar tools.
  • Willingness and capability to work on construction sites performing review activities.
  • Ability to interpret and understand design drawings.
  • Capacity to organize technical materials into comprehensive drawings, specifications, and reports, and perform QA/QC reviews on deliverables.
  • Experience in project planning, budgeting, task delegation, and management to ensure project completion according to established work plans.
  • Experience in project administration, including invoicing and collections.
  • Conduct regular site/client visits, project, and business development meetings.
  • Assist in formulating business strategies and action plans to create growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Business Development teams to attract new clients and business opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and nurture new client relationships and build strong business connections with both new and existing clients.
