Key Responsibilities of a Senior Civil Engineering Project Manager

In this role, you will:

  • Formulate and develop work plans and proposals for engineering services related to site and civil consultation and design, encompassing the definition of field investigations and design efforts, along with preparing cost estimates and project timelines.
  • Prepare, present, and discuss design and bidding documents with clients.
  • Oversee project schedules and budgets for multiple assignments.
  • Conduct and review engineering analyses, reports, calculations, contract documents, designs, and specifications for site and civil projects.
  • Plan, organize, supervise, and perform field evaluations and inspections as required.
  • Evaluate the feasibility and integrity of proposed site and civil features.
  • Develop design specifics and specify suitable construction materials.
  • Coordinate construction quality control services, conduct periodic site visits, and review daily field reports prepared by others.
  • Facilitate pre-proposal, pre-construction, and construction progress meetings, and document the minutes of those meetings.
  • Create and deliver project-specific or technical presentations to clients, technical organizations, and internal teams.
  • Assist Project Managers in overseeing projects that require financial, technical, and administrative leadership, while also identifying growth opportunities with both new and existing clients.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Directors to address client concerns and communicate changes to scope, schedule, and budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution. A Master's Degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Professional Registration is essential.
  • A minimum of 7 years of proven experience in site development, including site layout, grading, utility design, pavement design, permitting, budgeting, and interaction with jurisdictional agencies.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required; experience with Infrastructure Suite or MicroStation is advantageous.
  • Preferred experience with Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling software, including proficient use of HEC-HMS, SWMM, Storm and Sanitary Analysis, or similar tools.
  • Willingness and capability to work on construction sites performing review activities.
  • Ability to interpret and read design drawings.
  • Capability to organize technical materials into comprehensive drawings, specifications, and reports, and perform quality assurance/quality control reviews on work products.
  • Project planning, budgeting, task delegation, and management to ensure projects are completed according to established work plans.
  • Project administration, including invoicing and collections.
  • Conduct periodic site/client visits, project, and business development meetings.
  • Assist in formulating business strategies and action plans to create growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Business Development staff to attract new clients and business opportunities to the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to seek and establish new clients and cultivate strong business relationships with both new and existing clients.
