Job Overview

The Sr. Renewables Project Developer is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of large-scale renewable energy projects, specifically those with a capacity of 1 megawatt (MW) or greater. This role encompasses the entire project lifecycle, from land acquisition to the initiation of construction. The individual will facilitate essential project management tasks, including defining project scope, scheduling, estimating costs, engineering, and construction specifications. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring successful project completion by identifying potential projects and guiding them through the development phases, which include interconnection applications, engineering design, permitting, and transitioning to construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of wind and/or solar projects through various stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate a team of specialists to provide project schedules, cost estimates, and engineering specifications for renewable energy initiatives.
  • Manage project budgets and ensure cost-effective procurement of labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Communicate project progress to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding of project direction.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for renewable project development, including negotiating necessary agreements.
  • Assist in the preparation of marketing materials and proposals for potential renewable development opportunities.
  • Evaluate project risks and implement strategies to mitigate them in collaboration with leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, including thorough documentation practices.
  • Analyze renewable energy market trends and conditions across diverse political and geographic landscapes.
  • Engage in industry groups focused on renewable energy policy changes and initiatives.
  • Support community engagement efforts to foster positive project outcomes, including participation in community meetings.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of project management experience, including 2 years in renewable energy or community development.
  • Associate degree with 7 years of project management experience, including 2 years in renewable energy or community development.
  • High school diploma or GED with 9 years of project management experience, including 2 years in renewable energy or community development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in engineering, construction management, or business administration.
  • Background in the renewable energy sector.
  • Familiarity with local project siting and permitting processes.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Other Skills

  • Proficiency in project management software.
  • Ability to manage the strategic development process for wind and/or solar projects.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Capability to coordinate deadlines and logistics effectively.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure while managing multiple demands.
