Advanced Practice Nurse in Cardiovascular Surgery

Position Overview:
This is a full-time role focused on providing exceptional medical care under the supervision of physicians within the AdventHealth Medical Group. The position involves conducting thorough patient examinations, formulating treatment plans, and offering counseling to patients. In certain circumstances, the ability to prescribe medication may be included. This role is pivotal in managing complex surgical patients both before and after surgical procedures, assisting in major surgeries, and performing minor procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Effectively communicate with patients and colleagues, ensuring a respectful and courteous environment.
- Build positive relationships within the practice and across departments.

- Conduct patient health assessments through interviews and physical examinations.
- Maintain and review comprehensive patient medical histories.
- Develop and implement patient management plans to ensure continuity of care.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests to identify abnormalities.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, along with patient education.
- Perform therapeutic procedures including injections, suturing, and wound care.
- Conduct hospital rounds for surgical consultations and manage patient care in the hospital setting.
- Assist supervising physicians with discharge planning and follow-up care coordination.
- Serve as a surgical first-assist during procedures.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to policies and regulations.
- Support a culture of safety and quality to protect patients and staff.
- Document patient care services accurately in medical records.
- Mentor advanced practice nurse practitioner students during their rotations.
- Contribute to workflow improvements and efficiencies in a risk-aware environment.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner Studies.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in cardiology, cardiovascular, or related surgical specialty.
- State of Florida ARNP Licensure.
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
