- Assesses patient health by interviewing patients, conducting physical examinations, and identifying medical and surgical conditions.
- Obtains, updates, and reviews patient medical and surgical histories.
- Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
- Determines abnormalities by ordering and/or administering appropriate diagnostic tests, such as X-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies.
- Reviews and interprets patient test results.
- Provides pre- and post-operative care and patient education.
- Performs therapeutic procedures, including administering injections, suturing, managing drains, dressing changes, wound care, and infection management.
- Conducts hospital rounds on surgical consultations and pre- and post-operative patients.
- Assists the supervising physician with discharge services, including planning and summaries.
- Serves as surgical first-assist during operating procedures.
- Lifts, holds, and positions patients, and stands for extended periods in the operating room.
- Performs surgical skin closures, suturing, and related operative care.
- Facilitates smooth workflows in both clinic and operating room settings.
- Provides hospital on-call services in support of the supervising physician.
- Assists in emergency care services related to the surgical specialty.
- Instructs and counsels patients and their families as appropriate.
- Documents patient care services by accurately charting in records.
- Contributes to the effectiveness of the supervising physician by identifying patient care issues and helping develop staff through educational opportunities.
- Serves as a preceptor for advanced practice nurse practitioner students.
- Develops protocols to improve workflows and increase efficiencies.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with policies and regulations.
- Proactively supports a culture of safety and quality.
- Honors patient rights by following privacy guidelines and ethical standards.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:
- Master's Degree in Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner Studies.
- 2 years in cardiology, cardiovascular, or related surgical specialty.
Licensure, Certification or Registration Required:
- State of Florida ARNP Licensure.
- Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Continuing education required to maintain licensure.
Job Summary:
Provides medical treatment under the supervision of physicians for AdventHealth Medical Group. Conducts patient examinations and follow-ups, formulates treatment plans, and provides patient counseling. May prescribe medication in certain cases. This medical care is delivered within the framework of the hospital's medical staff policies and procedures. Works with complex surgical patients both pre- and post-operatively, assisting in major surgical procedures and performing minor procedures.
