The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids implements a Membership By Design framework, which emphasizes member involvement and community engagement. All staff and volunteers play a crucial role in enhancing member experiences through a series of steps:

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Wellness Program Coordinator is responsible for conducting fitness equipment orientations, advocating for health and wellness services, maintaining equipment cleanliness, and ensuring adherence to recreation guidelines. This position may require availability during early mornings, evenings, and weekends based on program needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate correct equipment usage and exercise techniques.
  • Monitor member activities in fitness areas and locker rooms.
  • Ensure all areas are clean and well-maintained.
  • Provide exceptional service to members.
  • Conduct tours for prospective members.
  • Address member concerns effectively.
  • Stay informed about developments in the health and wellness sector.
  • Prepare equipment for group exercises and sports activities.
  • Enforce YMCA guidelines for members.

Perform any additional tasks necessary for the efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.

COMPENSATION:

$17.24 per hour; Part-Time; Non-Exempt (up to 25 hours per week)

QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or GED is required; enrollment in college courses is preferred. Experience in fitness, instruction, or personal training is advantageous. Ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds and lifestyles is essential. Proficiency in computer usage and familiarity with various software applications is required. Previous experience with YMCA is a plus.

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • CPR, AED, Oxygen, and First Aid Certification must be obtained within the first 60 days.
  • Blood Borne Pathogen training.
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT).
