Position Title: Environmental Advocacy Coordinator

Job Type: Full-time

MOSES is in search of an Environmental Advocacy Coordinator to spearhead our initiatives aimed at promoting fair environmental policies and practices. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong dedication to environmental equity and community empowerment, with a background in grassroots mobilization and policy engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute strategic initiatives to advance environmental equity and tackle challenges faced by underrepresented communities.
  • Engage with local residents to gather insights on their environmental concerns and priorities.
  • Forge collaborations with community organizations, governmental bodies, and other stakeholders to bolster environmental advocacy efforts.
  • Organize and lead community gatherings, educational workshops, and public discussions to enhance awareness and encourage community involvement.
  • Conduct research and policy evaluation to support advocacy initiatives and formulate data-driven solutions.
  • Promote local, regional, and national policies that foster environmental equity.
  • Collaborate with media and communications teams to amplify the organization's message and highlight the perspectives of impacted communities.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of campaigns and initiatives to ensure they achieve their intended outcomes.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in environmental science, public policy, social work, or a related discipline; a master's degree is advantageous.
  • At least 3 years of experience in community organizing, environmental advocacy, or a similar field.
  • Comprehensive understanding of environmental justice issues, including the social, economic, and political factors that contribute to environmental inequities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in campaign development, strategic planning, and implementation.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Skilled in data analysis, report preparation, and utilizing digital tools for organizing and communication.
