Intermediate School Language Arts Instructor
Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School is on the lookout for a dedicated Language Arts instructor to engage with students in grades six and seven. This role may also include responsibilities as a Homeroom Teacher. The successful candidate will demonstrate a robust work ethic, a spirit of collaboration, proven teaching effectiveness, extensive knowledge of the middle school English curriculum, and a deep understanding of the unique characteristics of middle school learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement creative unit plans that facilitate progressive learning through varied activities tailored to students' abilities and knowledge.
- Utilize departmental standards to evaluate and assess student performance throughout the academic year, ensuring accurate record-keeping and report card preparation.
- Fulfill additional supervisory and instructional responsibilities as designated by the Middle School leadership.
- Maintain effective communication with parents and guardians.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree is mandatory; a master's degree is preferred.
- Demonstrated success in full-time teaching roles.
- Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with peers, administrators, and families.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Work Schedule
- Academic Year, from 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM.
- Participation in weekly after-school faculty and departmental meetings.
Compensation Package
The salary range for this position is between $71,000 and $118,500, with additional compensation for advanced degrees. We offer a comprehensive benefits package.
