Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled electrical estimator to assess the projected costs associated with various electrical installations in both industrial and commercial settings. The role involves evaluating the duration of contracting tasks, researching market rates for materials and equipment, and engaging with clients to clarify project scopes. A successful candidate will also focus on enhancing cost-estimating methodologies to minimize discrepancies between estimated and actual expenses.

To excel as an electrical estimator, you should possess a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of electrical regulations. An outstanding Electrical Estimator will be proficient in interpreting architectural plans and exhibit excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generating comprehensive construction cost estimates from initial conceptual designs to final bid proposals and change order estimates during the construction phase.
  • Creating a Basis of Estimate that details the project scope, exceptions, allowances, and format in line with client specifications.
  • Compiling and/or developing material take-offs (MTOs) for single and multi-discipline projects.
  • Assessing and/or establishing labor rates and subcontractor costs.
  • Inputting data into spreadsheets or databases for inclusion in estimates.
  • Reviewing project documentation to scope, organize, and deliver accurate equipment, material, and labor cost estimates.
  • Formulating project-specific estimates based on detailed plans and timelines.
  • Maintaining a Basis of Estimate (BOE) for each undertaking.
  • Conducting estimate benchmarking and compiling project estimates for internal and external reviews.
  • Creating the estimate plan and disseminating relevant information.
  • Leading project estimate reviews with appropriate engineering teams.
  • Ensuring estimates align with client standards and accurately reflect project staffing needs.
  • Updating estimates post-award to reflect project requirements.
  • Preparing award documentation for review.
  • Identifying critical project milestones and communicating them to the sales team.
  • Facilitating scope reviews with project managers and design teams.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited JATC or trade school program.
  • A Bachelor's or Associate Degree in electrical engineering or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • 3-5 years of experience in project estimating or a related area.
  • Strong leadership and management capabilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with state electrical and safety regulations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Ability to proactively identify and address potential challenges.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Highly motivated with a robust work ethic.
  • Dependable, trustworthy, and dedicated to team success.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
