Position Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable electrical estimator to assess the anticipated costs associated with various electrical installations in both industrial and commercial sectors. The primary responsibilities of the electrical estimator include estimating the duration of contracting tasks, researching market pricing for necessary materials and equipment, and engaging with clients to clarify project scopes. Additionally, the estimator should focus on enhancing cost-estimating processes to minimize discrepancies between projected and actual costs.

To excel in this role, the ideal candidate should possess a meticulous attention to detail and a solid understanding of electrical regulations. An outstanding Electrical Estimator should also be proficient in interpreting architectural plans and exhibit exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating comprehensive construction cost estimates, ranging from initial conceptual designs to finalized bid estimates and change order evaluations during the construction phase.
  • Drafting a Basis of Estimate that details the project scope, exceptions, allowances, and format in line with client specifications.
  • Compiling and/or generating discipline-specific and multi-discipline material take-offs (MTOs).
  • Assessing and/or formulating labor rates and subcontractor expenses.
  • Inputting data into spreadsheets or databases for inclusion in estimates.
  • Reviewing project documentation to accurately scope, organize, and deliver estimates for equipment, materials, and labor.
  • Producing project-specific estimates based on detailed project plans and timelines.
  • Maintaining a Basis of Estimate (BOE) for each project.
  • Conducting estimate benchmarking and compiling project estimates for internal and external reviews.
  • Formulating the estimate plan and disseminating relevant information.
  • Leading project estimate reviews with the appropriate engineering teams.
  • Ensuring estimates align with client standards and accurately reflect project staffing needs.
  • Updating estimates post-award to reflect project specifics.
  • Preparing award documentation for review.
  • Identifying critical project milestones and communicating these to the sales team.
  • Facilitating scope reviews with Project Managers and design teams.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited JATC or trade school program.
  • A Bachelor's or Associate Degree in electrical engineering or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • 3-5 years of experience in project estimating or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and management abilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with state electrical and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Ability to proactively identify and address potential issues.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Highly motivated with a robust work ethic.
  • Dependable, trustworthy, and dedicated to team success.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
