Role Purpose

The Technical Support Engineer will serve as the primary point of contact for on-site assistance, collaborating closely with OEM Release Engineers, Buyers, and Quality Engineers. This role involves gathering data from OEM Engineering Teams and acting as a Technical Expert for KOSTAL's products within OEM Engineering and Plants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaboration with OEMs: Partner with Tesla / Lucid DRE to initiate, approve, track, and document Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
    • Manage user ID acquisition, initiate/approve new ECRs for part releases, usage modifications, part alterations, BOM initiations, corrections, and other related tasks.
    • Oversee ECR tracking and facilitate necessary approvals, modifying ECRs as per departmental requirements and providing supporting documentation for cost and tool estimations.
    • Maintain comprehensive records to support and defend the company's position.
  • Support Product Development: Attend and contribute to Product Development Team Meetings (PDT).
    • Document and update PDT minutes, ECRs, and validation plans.
    • Assist in quality and engineering improvement initiatives.
    • Act as a Customer Representative, ensuring customer requirements are met in collaboration with the Program Manager.
  • Engineering Change Proposals: Initiate, track, and document Engineering Change Proposals (ECP).
    • Document requirements and expected outcomes as directed by Tesla / Lucid Engineering or the company's plant.
    • Monitor completion through PDT and manage related ECRs.
  • Approval Processes: Secure necessary approvals (ADVP&R, 5Phase, TALC, AAR).
    • Prepare documentation required for approvals and facilitate the handover of parts or forms to secure emergency approvals.
    • Engage in special meetings and reviews at Tesla / Lucid facilities.
  • Technical Documentation: Review schematics and facilitate the creation of Drawing/Math Data (ICD).
    • Ensure accuracy of ICDs before they are entered into the database.
    • Collaborate with KOSTAL engineers to review preliminary drawings and provide constructive feedback.
    • Support the release process for math data drawings and entries.
  • Warranty Analysis: Monitor parts return logs and assist in warranty analysis.
    • Support warranty personnel as needed and review repair orders to assess component return causes.
    • Participate in warranty reviews and provide analysis support.
  • Sample Support: Provide assistance for A/B Samples and other production builds.
    • Deliver emergency parts and technical support for vehicle issues.
    • Facilitate updates and retrofits at various facilities.
  • Production Plant Support: Offer support for production plants during various build phases.
    • Assist with Plant PRRs and address build issues as they arise.
    • Travel to regional assembly facilities for on-site support when necessary.
  • Testing Support: Contribute to component and system testing efforts.
    • Engage in vehicle development and validation testing.
    • Participate in ride-and-drive testing and system test bench development.
  • Meetings and Reviews: Attend design reviews and team meetings as required.
    • Track program timelines and component changes.
    • Provide updates on team member roles and facilitate communication.
  • New Business Development: Foster relationships with local Tier 1 customers and support new business opportunities.
    • Assist in establishing communication lines and attend local Tier 1 PDTs as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years in Electrical Engineering within the Automotive sector.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and OEM systems.
  • Experience with electromechanical components and CAD software.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Understanding of quality systems and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability to build relationships and travel domestically and internationally as required.
