The Senior Vice President position is a pivotal role within the Risk Weighted Assets Controllers team, responsible for overseeing the comprehensive review and control of critical data elements related to Risk Weighted Assets (SA-CCR) and Supplementary Leverage Exposure for Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR) exposures, along with Advanced RWA (CVA RWA).

This senior leadership role within the RWA Controllers (RWAC) Derivatives team reports directly to the RWAC Derivatives Exposure Type Lead. The Spot RWA Derivatives team is tasked with ensuring the precision and integrity of RWA calculations and the reporting of both Standardized and Advanced RWA, as well as Supplementary Leverage Exposure (SLE). As a regulatory capital authority in Derivatives, this role demands a rigorous challenge and drives the diagnostics and remediation of the end-to-end processes and controls involved in various Derivatives regulatory capital calculations, which include governance, data and non-data controls, processes, system implementation, and regulatory reporting.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Lead include:

  • Overseeing the complete production, governance, and controls of Derivatives Standardized and Advanced RWA, and SLE Actuals.
  • Ensuring that the RWA calculations and reporting processes, along with the Governance and Controls Framework, are well-defined, transparent, and thoroughly documented.
  • Establishing robust control processes that effectively demonstrate compliance with US Basel III regulatory capital requirements for Derivatives RWA.
  • Managing model changes for JTD and CVA, ensuring they are well understood, implemented, and tested for regulatory notification and submission, including insights into the impacts of model changes and updates to underlying referential data.
  • Defining and developing CVA RWA governance in alignment with US Basel regulatory standards.
  • Identifying opportunities for process enhancements to improve consistency, transparency, and reliability in RWA calculation, governance, and controls.
  • Leading diagnostics and remediation efforts across a wide range of regulatory capital calculations, focusing on governance, data and non-data controls, processes, system implementation, and regulatory reporting.
  • Creating materials suitable for senior management, particularly Derivative analytics presentations for Lines of Businesses, Senior Governance Group, Independent Risk Management, Finance, and Regulators.
  • Driving change and influencing risk and regulatory outcomes, while providing conservative solutions from a Regulatory Compliance perspective in collaboration with Business, Risk, and Finance teams.
  • Building strong working relationships with Finance, Front Office, Treasury, Technology, Audit, Independent Risk, and other organizational counterparts.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM); a Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Over 7 years of relevant experience in a related field.
  • Thorough understanding of US regulatory capital rules for counterparty credit risk, including both Basel III and SA-CCR regulations, with the ability to assess their application against regulatory expectations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the lifecycle of Derivatives (both bilateral and cleared transactions), particularly in Interest Rate and FX derivatives, and experience in analyzing valuation movements through sensitivity-based analysis.
  • Familiarity with various derivatives, including Interest Rate, Equity, Credit, FX, and Commodity derivatives, as well as structured products such as CDOs and credit index products.
  • Strong grasp of regulatory capital best practices and controls, along with the interdependencies between Trading Book and Banking Book exposures across different risk categories.
  • Prior experience in implementing Basel RWA rules within large financial institutions is preferred.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex concepts into accessible language for diverse audiences, including senior management and regulators.
  • Experience in managing risks holistically, covering systems, data, models, regulatory requirements, governance, and analytics.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and tasks, work collaboratively in a team, and possess strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive approach to producing high-quality, accurate deliverables under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with the capability to develop advanced knowledge of MS Excel and Access or other database front-end query applications.
