Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Marine Inspector to join our team at SGS North America Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections and surveys of various types of cargo on seagoing vessels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct visual and physical inspections of cargo to ensure compliance with client specifications and safety regulations.
  • Witness the loading and unloading of cargo from vessels and review shipping documentation to verify contents and packages.
  • Issue reports of findings within specified time limits.
  • Verify cargo and packaging comply with client specs for seaworthiness and applicable safety and logistics regulations.
  • Sign independent contractor agreements/sub-contractor agreements with SGS North America Inc.
Requirements
  • Valid TWIC Card.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in cargo inspections.
  • Master Mariner and similar testimonial a plus.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Proficiency in using computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar and composition.
  • Proven time management skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Pay range: $35 to $48 per hour. Mileage reimbursement and expense items reimbursed at cost against receipts.
  • Ad hoc work schedule as required by the client.
