About the Position

This is a temporary position with the State of Kansas, Department for Children and Families. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing LIEAP applications, determining eligibility, and authorizing benefits for applicants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process LIEAP applications received from across the state of Kansas
  • Determine eligibility and authorize benefits for applicants using the KEES eligibility computer system
  • Answer the statewide LIEAP 800 phone number and provide guidance and direction to callers

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years of experience interviewing, investigating, compiling information, documenting decisions, interpreting guidelines, and/or providing technical assistance relevant to the agency's programs
  • Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency

Preferred Qualifications

  • DCF and/or LIEAP experience
  • Experience working with the public
  • One year of customer service experience
  • Proficient in accurate data entry
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (verbal and written is ideal)

Security Clearance and Tax Clearance

  • A background check is required for all positions with the Department for Children and Families as a condition of employment
  • Candidates offered employment will need to apply for a Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate within 10 days of being offered a position
