Reports to: Maintenance and E&I Manager

The hands-on Electrical and Instrumentation Operations Supervisor is tasked with overseeing, guiding, and coordinating the activities of all E&I hourly staff. This role is pivotal in providing leadership and direction to guarantee workforce safety, ensuring quality and efficient goal execution, monitoring team performance, conducting equipment history analysis, submitting precise work execution reports, responding appropriately to emergencies, and enforcing company policies related to assigned personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize safety as a core value among assigned personnel.
  • Directly supervise bargaining unit employees, including initiating corrective actions and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Ensure that all crew members receive scheduled training.
  • Assist Maintenance Planners in effectively allocating personnel and estimating, planning, and scheduling tasks.
  • Create and manage weekly and daily schedules, assigning maintenance personnel to their respective tasks based on these schedules and related work orders.
  • Verify that all safety protocols, necessary equipment, tools, materials, and maintenance resources are prepared and available for scheduled jobs.
  • Oversee and guide work execution.
  • Monitor ongoing and completed work to ensure adherence to quality standards within the designated time frame.
  • Communicate completed tasks to operations and gather feedback regarding satisfaction.
  • Assign personnel to scheduled tasks to maximize skill development and training opportunities.
  • Accept and execute properly authorized emergency tasks.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities, generating work orders for any observed malfunctions.
  • Manage the return of excess parts and materials to the Storeroom.
  • Understand and adhere to the Bargaining Agreement as it pertains to personnel management.
  • Promote cleanliness and organization in both the workshops and job sites.
  • Facilitate scheduled safety and crew meetings, reviewing necessary topics and recording attendance.
  • Conduct safety observations regularly.
  • Continuously evaluate crew performance and recommend opportunities for ongoing improvement.
Job Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the pulp and paper sector, with prior supervisory experience being advantageous.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Experience with distributed control systems (ABB DSC) and programmable logic controllers (Allen-Bradley PLC) is highly preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical components utilized in industrial settings, along with strong mechanical aptitude, mathematical skills, and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Self-driven individual with a proactive attitude and a solid understanding of personnel management techniques.
  • Awareness of the activities and procedures necessary for efficient and high-quality work completion.
  • Proficient computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
