Job Overview

Verrazano Nursing and Post-Acute Center is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse Supervisor. This role involves supporting physicians in delivering care to patients with diverse medical needs. The RN Supervisor will be responsible for administering medications, tracking patient progress, and providing education to both patients and their families as required.

The successful candidate will demonstrate empathy, knowledge, skill, and experience in patient care. This pivotal position also includes responsibilities in overseeing the facility's operations as a supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Valid NY RN license in good standing
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with a capacity to plan, organize, and implement policies and procedures
  • At least 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a hospital or nursing facility
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the nursing staff in compliance with current regulations and guidelines governing long-term care facilities.
  • Execute administrative tasks such as report completion, evaluations, charting, IV therapy, discharge planning, and incident reporting as necessary. Collaborate with physicians, residents, and families in planning care and treatment.
  • Ensure equitable and respectful treatment of all residents, prioritizing their needs.
  • Enforce established policies and procedures, including dress codes and identification protocols, ensuring compliance among all department personnel. Facilitate educational opportunities for RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
  • Work closely with support departments to guarantee a seamless experience for new admissions or transfers, including room readiness and transfer of medical information.
  • Conduct rounds to ensure that patient needs are met adequately. Monitor all aspects of patient care, including dietary and physical activity, and report any changes in patients' conditions to the Unit Manager/Director.

Additional Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and a valid nursing license in the state required
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
  • Capability to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
