Position Overview

As a Senior Advisor for Retail Power Portfolio Management, you will play a pivotal role in driving profitability through retail contract sales, particularly within deregulated power markets. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the Profit & Loss (P&L) of your retail power portfolio, ensuring thorough analysis of delivery month actuals, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and market fluctuations. You will identify potential risks and recommend effective hedging strategies to mitigate price and volume risks inherent in the retail power sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in trading financial and physical energy instruments, including Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and Power Options, to support retail operations.
  • Oversee load forecasts and manage day-ahead demand bidding processes.
  • Generate and reconcile daily Net Open Position (NOP) and Market to Market (MTM) reports.
  • Aggregate financial data to assess the profitability of the portfolio.
  • Contribute to the development and regular adjustment of forward price curves for various energy products.
  • Manage risks associated with retail power load obligations through diverse contractual arrangements.
  • Analyze complex business challenges and propose actionable solutions to enhance pricing and portfolio management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate customer revenue and settlement data.
  • Provide insights into the factors influencing portfolio P&L from budget formulation to final settlement.
  • Adhere to industry regulations and standards.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses on market dynamics and regulatory issues to optimize competitiveness and profitability.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on market fundamentals to stakeholders.
  • Participate in discussions supporting sales initiatives with various partners.
  • Assist in the enhancement of analytical models and systems for portfolio management.
  • Support the development of new products through collaboration with internal teams.
  • Work collaboratively with all ENGIE North America employees.
  • Follow all ENGIE North America policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Business, Economics, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in retail power portfolio management, particularly in PJM and MISO markets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex analyses effectively.
  • Familiarity with energy market fundamentals and pricing strategies.
  • Knowledge of hedging practices for managing retail power risks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and experience with data management tools like VBA and SQL.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Compensation

Salary Range: $128,400 - $196,765 USD annually. This range reflects the average expected compensation for qualified candidates, with actual salaries depending on various factors such as experience and education.
