Position Overview

As a Senior Advisor for Retail Power Portfolio, you will play a crucial role in driving profitability from retail contract sales, particularly within deregulated power markets. Your responsibilities will encompass the complete Profit & Loss (P&L) management of your retail power portfolio, including a thorough analysis of delivery month performance, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and budget forecasting. You will be tasked with identifying potential risks, proposing hedge strategies, and implementing measures to mitigate price and volume risks inherent in the retail power sector.

In collaboration with the Portfolio Management Team, you will contribute to the development of forward price curves for all Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) components of full-requirements products, ensuring competitive positioning in the retail market while sharing accountability for achieving Sales targets. Your role will also involve interaction with various internal teams to align with organizational objectives, including Sales, Business Development, Trading, Operations, Risk Management, and Marketing.
  • Execute trades for financial and physical energy instruments, including Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and Power Options, to support retail operations.
  • Oversee load forecasts and manage day-ahead demand bid schedules.
  • Compile and reconcile daily Net Open Position (NOP) and Market to Market (MTM) reports.
  • Analyze revenue and cost data to assess portfolio profitability.
  • Assist in the daily formulation and ongoing calibration of forward price curves for various energy components.
  • Manage risks associated with retail power load obligations, including fixed price and index contracts.
  • Investigate complex business challenges and propose actionable solutions to enhance pricing and portfolio management.
  • Collaborate with functional teams to validate customer revenue and ISO settlement data for insights into profitability.
  • Provide detailed insights into portfolio Profit & Loss from budget creation to final settlement.
  • Adhere to industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses on market fundamentals and regulatory issues to optimize risk exposure and portfolio profitability.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on market fundamentals to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage in conference calls to support Sales initiatives with customers and partners.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of models and systems for costing and portfolio management.
  • Support new product development by coordinating with various internal teams.
  • Work collaboratively with all ENGIE North America staff.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Business, Economics, Engineering, Accounting, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in retail power portfolio management, particularly in PJM and MISO markets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex analyses effectively.
  • Knowledge of energy market fundamentals and pricing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with options and hedging strategies for managing retail power risks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and experience with data management tools like VBA, SQL, and Microsoft Power BI.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
  • Compliance with company policies regarding health and safety is required.
Compensation

Salary Range: $128,400 - $196,765 USD annually.

This range reflects the average expected pay for qualified candidates. Actual salary may vary based on factors such as experience, education, and internal alignment.

In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan.
