As a Retail Power Portfolio Management Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the profitability of retail contract sales, particularly within the New England Power Pool (NEPOOL) deregulated power markets. This position entails overseeing all elements of the Profit and Loss (P&L) associated with the retail power portfolio, including comprehensive analyses of actual delivery month results, adjustments to Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and strategic budget forecasting. The Specialist will assess potential risks, propose hedging strategies, and actively manage price and volume risk exposures that are inherent in the retail power sector. Working closely with key members of the Portfolio Management Team, you will assist in developing forward price curves for all Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) components related to full-requirements products, while continuously refining costing assumptions to maintain competitiveness in the retail market. Additionally, you will collaborate with various internal departments, including Sales, Business Development, Origination, Trading, Operations, Risk Management, Marketing, and Digital teams, to support the overarching goals of the organization.
- Trade Instruments: Engage in trading Energy, Capacity, RECs, Ancillaries, FTRs, PPAs, Power Options, and Weather derivatives.
- Forecasting and Bids: Validate load forecasts and supervise day-ahead demand bids.
- Reporting: Generate and reconcile daily NOP and MTM reports; evaluate portfolio profitability.
- Price Management: Develop and adjust forward price curves; oversee price and volume risk management.
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least seven (7) years of relevant experience in the retail power sector.
- Proficient in retail power portfolio management with a strong understanding of full requirements cost components, especially within NEPOOL.
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and statistical skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical analyses to senior management effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of energy market fundamentals, including customer usage characteristics and pricing strategies.
- Expertise in options and hedging practices to manage retail power shape and swing risk, along with advanced skills in MS Excel.
- Experience in data extraction, transformation, and management utilizing tools such as VBA, SQL, and Microsoft Power BI, combined with strong analytical, planning, and organizational capabilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
- This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
- Compliance with all company ethics and safety policies is required.
Salary Range: $112,000 - $157,500 USD annually
This range represents the average expected compensation for a qualified candidate. Actual salary may vary based on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other legitimate factors.
In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive program.
