Position Summary:
The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is in search of a skilled professional for the role of Outpatient Forensic Psychologist.
The selected candidate will report to the Community Forensic Director and will provide support across various sections of the state, collaborating with outpatient evaluation teams and inpatient forensic facilities to conduct forensic assessments.
Key responsibilities encompass conducting face-to-face forensic mental health assessments, preparing detailed reports, providing expert testimony, collecting and analyzing data, supervising staff, and performing other related duties as assigned. Statewide travel is a requirement for this position.
It is mandatory for the successful candidate to complete the state's Competency to Stand Trial Certification process within one year of employment to maintain their position.
Qualifications
Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited institution AND a valid Georgia psychology license AND a minimum of one year of experience at the Psychologist 1 level (HCP140) or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications- At least one year of experience in an inpatient psychologist role
- Completion of a predoctoral internship or postdoctoral fellowship with a focus on criminal forensic psychology
- Five years of post-licensure experience in conducting competency to stand trial and criminal responsibility evaluations
- Experience providing testimony in criminal forensic mental health cases on a minimum of ten occasions
- Completion of at least five violence risk assessments utilizing the HCR20 and PCL-R tools
- Experience supervising psychology graduate students, predoctoral interns, postdoctoral fellows, or licensed psychologists
Employment Requirements
To ensure the safety and quality of service delivery, certain roles within DBHDD may necessitate evaluations, vaccinations, professional licensure, and certifications. All licenses must be current and valid for practice within the State of Georgia. Evaluations and vaccinations may include drug screening, TB assessments, and annual influenza vaccinations. Limited exemptions may apply based on documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs against vaccinations.
