Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Deputy Director of Mortuary Services, the Forensic Mortuary Services Assistant will:
- Assist medical examiners in conducting autopsy examinations, including evisceration and body restoration.
- Support the training of medical fellows, residents, and students in postmortem procedures.
- Collaborate with medical examiners and pathology coordinators for specialized examinations.
- Utilize advanced techniques for fingerprinting and identification.
- Coordinate with mortuary staff to ensure smooth operations and resolve any arising issues.
- Oversee the activities of mortuary personnel and facilitate staff meetings to address operational challenges.
- Work with management to develop standard operating procedures for autopsy and mortuary services.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as necessary.
- Ensure the autopsy suites and mortuary areas are properly stocked and operational.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent, along with one year of relevant experience in mortuary or autopsy work. Additional experience is required for higher assignment levels.
