Job Summary:

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is seeking a qualified professional for the role of Outpatient Forensic Psychologist.

Under the supervision of the Community Forensic Director, the selected candidate will provide support across various sections of the state, collaborating with outpatient evaluation teams and inpatient forensic facilities to conduct comprehensive forensic assessments.

Key responsibilities include conducting in-person forensic mental health evaluations, preparing detailed reports, providing expert testimony, and engaging in data collection and analysis. The role also involves supervision and other related duties. Travel throughout the state is a requirement.

It is essential to complete the state's Competency to Stand Trial Certification process within the first year of employment to maintain the position.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.


Qualifications

Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited institution AND a valid Georgia psychology license AND a minimum of one year of experience at the Psychologist 1 level (HCP140) or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience in an inpatient psychologist role
  • Completion of a predoctoral internship or postdoctoral fellowship with a focus on criminal forensic psychology
  • Five years of post-licensure experience in conducting competency to stand trial and criminal responsibility evaluations
  • Experience providing testimony in criminal forensic mental health cases on a minimum of ten occasions
  • Completion of at least five violence risk assessments utilizing the HCR20 and PCL-R tools
  • Experience in supervising psychology graduate students, predoctoral interns, postdoctoral fellows, or licensed psychologists

To ensure the safety and quality of service delivery, certain positions within DBHDD may necessitate evaluations, vaccinations, professional licensure, and certifications. All licenses must be current and valid for practice within the State of Georgia. Evaluations and vaccinations may include drug screening, TB evaluation, and annual influenza vaccination. Limited exemptions may apply based on documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs regarding vaccinations.
