Position Overview:
This full-time role reports directly to the Director of the Brooklyn/Staten Island Forensic Psychiatric Evaluation Court Clinic (Brooklyn/Staten Island FPECC) within the Division of Correctional Health Services. The Brooklyn/Staten Island FPECC is tasked with conducting court-mandated fitness evaluations under CPL Article 730 and presentencing assessments under CPL Article 390 for criminal defendants in Kings and Richmond Counties. Responsibilities include preparing timely written reports for court submission and providing courtroom testimony as required.

- Strong diagnostic and evaluative skills, particularly regarding psycholegal inquiries.
- Proficient forensic report writing capabilities.
- Experience working with forensic mental health populations.
- Expertise in administering and interpreting a variety of psychological assessments.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- The ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Fluency in both written and spoken English.
Core Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Conducting court-ordered evaluations of criminal defendants and ensuring timely submission of written reports to the courts.
- Administering psychological tests as necessary, including intelligence, neuropsychological, personality, and malingering assessments.
- Providing mentorship and supervision to clinicians in training.
- Engaging in regular supervision sessions with the Director of the Brooklyn/Staten Island FPECC.
- Actively participating in staff meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing professional development.
- Maintaining compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Occasionally conducting evaluations in other FPECC clinics as needed.
- Performing additional duties as assigned by the Director of the Brooklyn/Staten Island FPECC or the city-wide Director of the Forensic Psychiatric Evaluation Court Clinics.
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A valid license and current registration to practice as a Psychologist issued by the NYSED.
- Two years of post-licensure experience, including one year of supervisory experience, or three years of post-licensure experience.
- Completion of the NYC Health + Hospitals Supervisory training within three months of appointment.
