Position Overview:

The Instrumentation Control Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the functionality and reliability of automated systems. This position involves a comprehensive range of responsibilities including installation, calibration, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of both new and existing systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct installation, calibration, and preventive maintenance on complex electrical and electronic instruments, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), motor controls, and variable frequency drives.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot closed-loop automated systems and electrical controls to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assemble, service, and troubleshoot various modules and assemblies based on schematics and verbal instructions, while adhering to safety and environmental standards.
  • Prepare and update technical documentation, including drawings, reports, and operation manuals.
  • Utilize testing instruments to assess circuit continuity and ensure the safety of electrical components.
  • Evaluate installed equipment to identify hazards and recommend necessary adjustments or replacements.
  • Plan and execute the layout, installation, and repair of conduit, wiring, and control equipment, ensuring compliance with specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Perform analysis and interpretation of test data, and may edit PLC programs as required.
  • Collaborate with various departments and contractors to ensure high-quality installations and service.
  • Stay informed about new technologies and methods, providing technical guidance and training to junior staff.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge in electrical, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and instrumentation. A strong foundation in mathematical calculations and the ability to interpret technical documents is essential. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others are crucial for success in this role.

Employment Guidelines:

  • Associate's Degree in a relevant field such as Electronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience demonstrating growth in the instrumentation control discipline.
  • Progress towards certification as a Control Systems Technician is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

Physical Requirements:

This position may require support during emergency situations and involves physical tasks such as lifting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The work environment may be challenging, including exposure to hot and humid conditions.
