Job Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state leave requirements. The successful candidate will provide support for all leave of absence cases, working closely with operational, risk management, and human resources teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leave Administration: Provide detailed information on state and city family and medical leave laws, track and administer leave history, and notify employees of applicable leave policies.
  • Case Management: Verify eligibility requirements, facilitate certification processes, and send initial paperwork to employees.
  • Communication: Send correspondence for approvals and denials to employees, and provide notification to managers on leave approvals and return to work.
  • Complex Case Coordination: Coordinate cases that combine multiple benefit areas, and provide program utilization reports detailing employees on leave, frequency of leave, and qualifying events.
  • Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with STD/LTD vendors for employer statements and leave notifications.
  • Benefits Administration: Verify employee leave status in benefits administration systems, and submit changes and pay authorizations to payroll.
  • Auditing: Report on leave status and STD/LTD claim status.
  • Employee Education: Educate and counsel employees on all aspects of leave of absence, and provide training as necessary.
  • Partnership: Partner closely with the Human Resources Director on all related accommodation and/or leave cases/claims.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree with 7-10 years of experience in human resources, or 4-5 years in leave management.
  • Certification: CLMS certification preferred.

  • Independence: Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Confidentiality: Demonstrated ability to deal with confidential information.
  • Problem Solving and Time Management: Demonstrated problem-solving, time management, and priority-setting skills.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Mobility: Occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Computer Use: Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Walking and Standing: Walk short distances and sit and/or stand for short or extended periods of time.
  • Lifting and Handling: Lift/carry/move objects, files, and documents up to 50 pounds.
  • Office Environment: Work in an office environment using standard office equipment.
  • Communication: Talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
  • Attendance: Maintain regular and punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
