About the Role

Parkland Health and Hospital System is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources professional to join our Shared Services team as a Sr., Shared Services Specialist. This role will play a critical part in managing and facilitating various internal processes, including employee appeals, unemployment appeals, leave management, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Employee Appeals Management
    • Manage the internal employee appeal process, ensuring effectiveness and efficiency.
    • Serve as the facilitator and Committee Chair on all Step 1 and 2 Appeals.
  • Unemployment Appeals Management
    • Manage the unemployment appeal process, serving as the point of contact for the Third Party Administrator (TPA).
    • Interact with representatives from the Texas Workforce Commission on unemployment matters on behalf of Parkland Health and Hospital System.
  • Leave Management and ADA Accommodations
    • Partner with Leave Management TPA, Legal Affairs, Occupational Health, and Talent Management Business Partners (TMBPs) on all ADAAA leave cases.
    • Facilitate routine meetings to review the status of ADAAA claims and return to work status.
  • Documentation and Compliance
    • Process and manage documentation for new hire transactions and existing employee changes.
    • Monitor, track, and audit documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • OTM Support and Escalation
    • Independently respond to and resolve Tier 2 OTM-related inquiries.
    • Escalate questions and concerns to the appropriate OTM centers of expertise.
  • Exit Survey Interviews and Workplace Investigations
    • Conduct exit survey interviews for exiting staff-level employees.
    • Provide research, documentation, and analytical support to help resolve and address workplace environment-related investigations.
  • HRIS Administration and Special Projects
    • Ensure the efficiency of service center operations, technology, and transaction processes.
    • Lead special projects related to the effective HRIS administration.
    • Serve as a resource on PeopleSoft and Service Now projects.
  • Interim Pay Processing, Merit Processing, and Quarterly Work Status Processing
    • Perform tasks in support of OTM processes.
  • HR File Review and Regulatory Agency Inquiries
    • Serve as a resource for the HR file review and securing appropriate HR documentation in response to regulatory agency inquiries.
  • Process Improvement and Customer Satisfaction
    • Identify ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction.
    • Makes recommendations to the supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate.
  • Professional Development and Knowledge Management
    • Stay abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of Human Resources.
    • Integrate knowledge gained into current work practices.
  • Knowledge of Applicable Rules, Regulations, and Guidelines
    • Maintain knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the Office of Talent Management area.
    • Develop effective internal controls to promote adherence to applicable state/federal laws and program requirements.
