As an Electronics Design Engineer focusing on Space Exploration Electronic Systems, your responsibilities will include:
  • Reporting to the Electronics and Electrical Section Manager within a team of over 55 engineers.
  • Collaborating with Electrical Engineers on various projects, potentially taking on a leadership role.
  • Supporting the entire design process from initial concept through analysis, manufacturing, and operational testing.
  • Providing expert guidance in Electronics System Development.
  • Familiarizing yourself with NASA's specifications for electronic systems.
  • Committing to an on-site presence at our facility, five days a week.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications: This position is open to candidates with varying levels of experience. We encourage applicants with the following qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering and 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with analog, digital, and power electrical schematic design and PCB layout tools.
  • Proficiency in testing and troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Experience in anomaly investigation and root-cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with generating electrical procedures and collaborating with other engineering disciplines.
  • Knowledge of power analysis, spice simulation, and cable/PCB derating.
  • Understanding of system requirements and their verification and validation.
  • Experience in analog circuit design for space applications and schematic capture using Altium.
  • Background in system engineering and environmental testing.
  • Leadership experience in electronics design engineering and mentoring.
  • Familiarity with JSC standards and processes.
Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of data interface protocols and hardware such as Ethernet, RS232, RS422, RS485, I2C, SPI.
  • Experience with hardware testing tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Familiarity with mathematical modeling and algorithm development in MATLAB.
  • Understanding of power budgeting and digital circuit design.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
