Role Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Electronics and Electrical Section Manager, collaborating with a team of over 55 other Electronics and Electrical Engineers.
  • Engage as a Team Lead or collaborate with fellow Electrical Engineers on assigned projects.
  • Support new designs from initial conception through analysis, manufacturing, operational testing, and deployment.
  • Provide design support and guidance throughout various phases of Electronics System Development.
  • Familiarize yourself with NASA specifications relevant to Electronics.
  • This role necessitates a physical presence on-site, five days a week.
  • Perform additional duties as required.


Qualifications:

This position is available at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience and business needs, we may consider applicants at any level for which this position has been advertised.

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience with Analog, Digital, and Power electrical schematic entry and PCB layout tools is preferred.
  • Experience in system testing and troubleshooting electrical systems is essential.
  • Experience with anomaly investigation and root-cause failure analysis is advantageous.
  • Experience in generating electrical procedures is beneficial.
  • Collaboration with other disciplines is expected.
  • Knowledge of power analysis, spice simulation, and derating cables/PCB is preferred.
  • Understanding of system requirements and verification/validation processes is necessary.
  • Experience in analog circuit design for space applications and schematic capture using Altium is a plus.
  • Experience in system engineering and environmental testing is advantageous.
  • Leadership experience in electronics design engineering and mentoring capabilities are preferred.
  • Familiarity with JSC standards and processes is beneficial.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of data interface protocols and associated hardware such as Ethernet, RS232, RS422, RS485, I2C, SPI, etc.
  • Experience with system hardware testing using oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and logic analyzers.
  • Familiarity with mathematical modeling and algorithm development in MATLAB.
  • Knowledge of hyperlynx and power budgeting.
  • Experience in Power and Digital circuit design.
  • Familiarity with in-line EEE parts selection and configuration management.
  • Proficiency in version control software like Subversion (SVN).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Work Environment:

Generally, this role is office-based but may involve both indoor and outdoor work depending on specific tasks.

Physical Requirements:

This position may require sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may involve lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.) will be utilized.

Attendance:

Regular attendance in accordance with the established work schedule is critical. Flexibility to work outside normal hours may be required to meet peak periods and surge demands.
