Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Senior Credit Underwriter plays a crucial role in evaluating and analyzing credit profiles of existing and prospective borrowers. This position is tasked with assessing the feasibility of extending credit across various loan types, drafting comprehensive loan proposals, and fostering strong relationships with clients to enhance the Bank's business.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that loan documentation is thorough and adheres to the Bank's established guidelines.
  2. Analyze financial documents, including income statements, tax filings, and credit reports.
  3. Evaluate the cash flow of commercial clients and individual borrowers.
  4. Monitor and manage loan compliance with established reporting covenants.
  5. Conduct assessments on a variety of collateral types.
  6. Support lending officers in structuring suitable loan agreements.
  7. Collaborate with lending teams to prepare credit memorandums for various financing requests.
  8. Work alongside senior credit officers to perform annual evaluations of significant borrowers.
  9. Assist the Chief Credit Officer in ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  10. Engage in additional tasks and projects as assigned.
  11. Demonstrate respect for colleagues; uphold commitments; inspire trust; act ethically and with integrity; adhere to organizational values; and take responsibility for personal actions.
  12. Follow institutional policies and procedures; complete administrative duties accurately and punctually; support the Bank's objectives and values; contribute positively through external engagements.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role does not involve supervisory duties.

Position Type:

This is a full-time, non-exempt role.

Work Environment:

This position is based in a professional office setting and utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, copiers, and printers.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires writing, typing, verbal communication, listening, lifting (up to 50 pounds), driving, carrying, and various physical activities including sitting, standing, walking, and reaching.

Mental Requirements:

The incumbent must be capable of handling detailed tasks, problem-solving, engaging with clients, reasoning, performing mathematical calculations, and managing multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in credit analysis within a financial organization, with a focus on finance, economics, or accounting.
  • Intermediate proficiency in credit analysis practices and terminology.
  • Basic understanding of relevant banking regulations and operational policies.
  • Intermediate skills in computer operations, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and banking software.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong mathematical abilities, including time value of money calculations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret documents and convey information clearly.
  • Aptitude for addressing complex problems involving multiple variables.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • A valid driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance if driving is required for job duties.
